JEFF.AND.DEANDRA.::.THE.PHOTO.SHOOT.

people don't have their photo taken enough.

at first, that statement seems odd. in a digi-flat world [learned that term from my friend dane] where it has never been easier to capture an image and then share it, literally, with the world in a matter of seconds, people don't have their photo taken enough. sure, people take photos every day. and often, they take photos of other people. that part is now really easy. but i believe intention has been lost. by the time the image has been captured and shared, the subject is just beginning to figure out what is happening, if she even knows at all. the art of story is lost.

why should people have their photo taken with intention? it gives a person the opportunity to tell his story. whether it be fact, fiction, interpretive, abstract, whatever... it gives him a chance to be heard. and in this fast-paced, dsl, wifi, venti latte world, how often does that happen?

so, what better gift could we as photographers give to our friend deandra, on her birthday, then a chance to have her be heard. carlie & i love you both. you are great friends, exciting people, and straight-up rock-and-roll rad.

here's a bit of deandra & jeff.

carlie found this chair at an antique store in orange... it might even make an appearance at our new home studio, in the works for unveiling in about a month or so...

i like urban outfitters. this seemed to ooze urban to me.

whilst working out the details of our shoot, deandra gave carlie & i complete creative freedom, from her attire to location to... yes... shooting with a lazy-boy in the middle of a dried-out field.

oh yeah... jeff came along too. jeff just happens to be another story-teller of sorts, and 50% of the hobo soul, a production company based out of... well... wherever his 1973 winnebago [home] happens to be parked.

easily my favorite photo of the day.

thanks deandra & jeff, for being friends, for being artful [& resourceful] storytellers that share your passion, and for giving us an invitation into your own artful [& resourceful] story.
