KATHY.AND.GREGG.::.THE.INTRODUCTION.

another fantastic engagement shoot! i absolutely love my job.

step one, find an awesome couple, people that you could picture yourself hanging out with on a friday night. step two, find a fun location, usually one with some character, an old street, a barren field, a grungy alley way. anything unique will do. good light is a bonus. step three, take awesome couple to fun location. step four, have fun with awesome couple at fun location. step five, eat dinner.

like i said, i love my job.

kathy & gregg, thanks for the invitation you have given carlie and i, to be a part of your wedding next march. we totally enjoyed our time at san juan capistrano shooting your engagement photos!

gregg actually happens to be a photographer himself, and though i know some photographers get nervous shooting other artists, i actually reveled [and was honored] in the challenge. we spent our time meandering about san juan capistrano, and in between shots i learned a bit about gregg's recent travels to israel, while kathy & carlie went over the details for the wedding.

here's a few snap shots of our time together... and by the way, kathy had probably the raddest shoes ever. so carlie couldn't pass up orchestrating our oh-so-favorite 'shoe shot.'

love.

one of carlie's favorites.

i love genuine laughter.

and now, for the slide show...

JAMIE.AND.JR.::.THE.INTRODUCTION.

so rad.

the other week, carlie & i were blessed to meet up with jamie & junior to take some photos. carlie was actually the one to meet & book jamie & junior a couple months ago, while i was away with the mammoth men , so it was extra special, after talking on the phone, shooting back an occasional email, to finally get the chance to meet the awesomeness that is jamie & junior.

after the shoot, we shared some quality time together over some mexican food & a couple of drinks. it was one of those meals where we probably could have sat and kept talking thru the night. again... so rad.

so, without further adieu, here they are, jamie & junior.

jamie rockin' it.

i love it when couples are relaxed and ready for anything. even though she donned a white dress for the engagement shoot, jamie was still down to sit on the ground. i love it.
junior is a big fan of the acronym, which we learned more about at dinner. i guess he commonly refers to his b2b [bride to be] as g.o.m.d. [girl of my dreams]. i.l.i.w.c.g.c. [i love it when couples get creative]

we didn't plan on shooting in the library, but we needed a place for an outfit change, so i turned my camera on super-silent-library-stealth mode and grabbed this one.

i'd say she checked the right box.

again, jamie & junior getting creative. they had seen some photos using umbrellas on different sites, and wanted to use the idea & make it their own.

one of my favorites.

some slideshow love.

BACK.HOME.

just a quick shout out to let you know gabriel.ryan.photographers. are back at work. we have officially moved to our new, and totally rad, home in ladera. and we will be cranking out as much as we can this week, in regards to post-processing, blog-posting, albums and the like.

and just for a little insight into my world, here is something i ran across while sorting through photos today...

she's the woman that shows me who i am; good & bad. she can get under my skin, but she lives in my heart. i couldn't live without her. that's my carlie.

OUT.OF.THE.OFFICE.

i just wanted to drop a quick post to let you know that carlie & i are 'in transition' this week [aka... we are moving]. not only are we moving & painting, but we have a couple engagement shoot's, and two saturday weddings sandwiching the week. needless to say, this week is chock-full. and our blogging/internet connection will be limited to my iPhone and the occasional Peet's break [if we even get one].

if it is urgent, and can not wait until next week, feel free to call (seven-one-four) three nine eight - six six five six. i will be checking & responding to voice mail at the end of each day.

in the meanwhile, and because we had sooooooooooo much fun with johanna & adam this weekend... here's a little tease.

DEB.AND.RYAN.::.THE.INTRODUCTION.

they had their first date over four years ago. but it wasn't until this past year that deb & ryan really thought of actually dating each other exclusively. and as you read this, they are probably on the road, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, on their way out to their new life together in the mid-west...

it's pretty amazing how things end up panning out.

deb & ryan are both incredible people [in fact deb & i both share the same birthday which we figured out pretty quickly after meeting two years ago], and carlie & i feel so blessed to have had the chance this last week, to take their photo. i love being able to present our art, their story, on our blog to share with all of you. but even more, i love the time we get to spend with each couple, really... well... just hanging out.

we hung out with deb & ryan at our home church and then made our way down to the balboa peninsula. enjoy the bits and pieces from our time together.

ryan doesn't play games. check out deb's bling. [caution: staring for too long may cause temporary blindness]

one of our personal favorites from the session. i love couples who are proud of their faith, but aren't going to hit you over the head with a bible.

carlie's top pick; deb flossin' some rad kicks.

a lot of times i try to step back to catch it all; take everything in. i will attempt to compose everything to be in perfect relation to everything else. what i love about carlie, is her ability to jump in close, and catch the bits and pieces that make up each moment.

sometimes not telling the whole story helps tell the story.

when i noticed we had an entourage, i had to make sure she got some photo credit on the blog.

per request...

thanks so much you two! whether or not we end up shooting your wedding next spring, it was a blessing to be a part of the process.
